On March 18, 2017 Vanderlyn Science Olympiad Team competed in the Dekalb County Science Olympiad at Druid Hills Middle School. The Vanderlyn team clearly demonstrated their advanced “STEM-abilities” by winning the most 1st – 3rd place individual medals (eight 1st places, three 2nd places and seven 3rd places) compared to any other team in the competition. Vanderlyn students took home medals in 15 of the 25 events. While the overall team results have yet to be announced by Fernbank Science Center, we expect to be one of the top teams overall and qualify for the State Science Olympiad in May. If you see any of the team members– be sure to congratulate them on a job well done. Vanderlyn is proud of the entire team:

Yearbooks are available for $35. As a reminder, yearbooks were not available for purchase through Membership Tool Kit at the beginning of the year. They need to be ordered separately online. Who: Parents and children in the Vanderlyn school district. Children must be age 5 or older on or before September 1, 2017 and reside in the Vanderlyn attendance district.

*For your convenience the Registration Packets, both Household and Student packets, are available to print off from the Dekalb County School website (www.dekalb.k12.ga.us) that you can complete before you come to Vanderlyn.
**If your child was born outside the United States and NEW to Dekalb County Schools, you will need to register them at the International Welcome Center before coming to Vanderlyn. For more information call the International Welcome Center at 678-676-6602.
Join us for our final PTO meeting of the year on Thursday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the Media Center. We will be electing our Executive Committee Officers for the 2017-2018 school year.
Our special area teachers will be in the spotlight on this special night where we showcase and highlight our special area teachers their subjects. Some highlights include: Ms. Taylor's dancers dance through the decades, Mr. Green's singers soar to new notes, and Mrs. Wortham will showcase artwork from all students at Vanderlyn. Come watch, listen, look, and support your special area teachers!
